Those Wacky Arbitrators

From today's Chicago Tribune... Federal arbitrators told Metra, Chicagoland's commuter rail service, that they have to rehire three train engineers and give them back pay. The engineers were terminated after they were found responsible for an accident in River Grove that killed a boy in 2004. The arbitrators determined that the engineers were not given a fair hearing before they were fired. It is a follow-up to a sad story, of course, but I couldn't help chuckling at this sentence:
The Aug. 31 ruling did not address whether the engineers were responsible for the accident, but it called the disciplinary proceeding a "railroad job."
Heh-heh, a railroad job. Those arbitrators slay me!
